Presets installation folder structure
Typical preset folder structure on macOS/Windows

Most synths use a dedicated user folder for presets. Put files in the right location and rescan — your new bank appears instantly.

 1. Locate your synth's user preset folder (check the synth settings or manual for the exact path)
 2. Copy the .fxp or preset files into that folder
 3. Rescan or restart the plugin using the Rescan / Refresh / Reload option in the preset browser
 4. Browse to the new bank and load a preset

Frequently asked questions

Where are preset files stored on my computer?

Each synth stores presets in its own folder, usually inside your
Documents
or
AppData
directory. Check the synth settings or manual for the exact path.

Why do my new presets not appear after copying the files?

Most synths require a rescan or restart before new presets appear. Look for a Rescan, Refresh, or Reload option in the preset browser.

What is an .fxp file?

A
.fxp
file is a single VST preset. A
.fxb
file is a bank of multiple presets. Both are standard formats supported by most VST plugins.
